Perennial herbaceous coarse plant with thin dark brown rhizome and thin roots. Basal leaves in a rosette on long petioles, heart-shaped-ovate tips, green with pale whitish spots on the surface. The flowering stem is straight, 15-30 (40) cm high, slightly branched, the flowers on stalks in apical glandular-fibrous racemes. Corolla red, after pollination blue-violet, tubular with a long tube and crown with 5 large lobes. Fruit dry, splitting into 2 ovoid nutlets. Blooms March - June. The herb is harvested in summer (May-August), after the plant has overflowered and the basal leaves are well developed. Only the basal leaves are harvested. They are torn off by hand or cut off with a knife, together with a part (up to 3 cm) of the petiole.
It grows in shady scrub and moist deciduous forests. Widespread throughout the country up to 1500 m above sea level.
Application: as an aid in catarrh, angina, bronchitis, asthma, diarrhea, etc.
Method of preparation: 1 level tablespoon of the herb is infused for 1 hour in 500 ml. Hot water. The strained infusion is drunk in 3 equal parts during the day before meals.
