Have you ever gone to the "one oil" store and when you reach the stand you are dizzy from the variety of different types of oils? And did you get angry when the fat in the pan burned and ruined the food? In order to avoid such situations, today we will tell you about some of the main types of vegetable cooking fats that can be found in stores.
Sunflower oil
We can't help but start with the classic well-known sunflower oil. For cooking, it is best to use refined oil, rather than the cold-pressed variety known as "charlan". It is suitable for both cooking and flavoring salads. The oil has a weak aroma and pale color, which means that it does not significantly change the taste and type of food. In addition, its boiling point is quite high, above 230 degrees, which makes it suitable for deep frying.
Olive oil
Olive oil is the second most popular vegetable oil in Bulgaria. Thanks to the development of trade, many types of olive oil from different countries can be found in our country.
The best quality olive oil is obtained from cold pressing of Extra Virgin olives, but it is not suitable for cooking, as it loses most of its useful substances during heat treatment. Therefore, it is better to use Pomache and Extra Light olive oils, as their boiling point is very high - above 230oC. This makes them suitable for both roasting and deep frying.
Avocado oil
This is a product with a characteristic green color, mild taste and memorable avocado aroma. Because avocado is a fruit high in nutrients such as Omega 3 fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins A, C and E, protein and many others, its oil is extremely healthy. In its characteristics it is close to Extra Virgin olive oil, but unlike them it is suitable for cooking. This is the vegetable fat with the highest boiling point - over 270oC.
Grape seed oil
According to some, this oil is one of the strongest natural antioxidants, as its production preserves many of the nutrients of grapes. It can be used in all areas of cooking - for seasoning salads, preparing various sauces and for thermal cooking. Its boiling point is about 220oC, which makes it suitable for frying and baking.
Rice oil
This vegetable fat is extremely popular in Asian cuisine. It is produced by turning rice bran. Rice oil has one of the highest boiling points, above 250oC, which makes it suitable for any type of heat treatment, including deep frying.
These are some of the most popular and affordable vegetable fats suitable for heat treatment. Expect different recipes for their use that will help you diversify your culinary routine.
