There is a huge variety of edible algae whose high nutritional value is preserved. They are not only extremely rich in nutrients, they are also resilient and grow again immediately after "harvest".
The first of these is the leading AquaSource product - the blue-green algae from Upper Klamath Lake.

Blue-green algae from Lake Upper Klamath give us nutrients and energy without this process taking almost nothing of the body's reserves. They are absorbed 95% and the nutrients contained in them are in a form suitable for direct use. For example, 60% of these algae are proteins and are in the form of glycoproteins, unlike lipoproteins in vegetables and meat. The same applies to their 25% carbohydrate content, which is similar to glycogen fuel in the human body. And the preserved thanks to this metabolic energy can be directed to the detoxification and maintenance of our organs. The energy saved in this way also means that the nutrients in the algae are utilized as efficiently as possible, which explains why very small amounts can be of such great benefit.
In addition to building blocks called "neuropeptides," algae from Upper Klamath contain 9% rhamnose, the sugar involved in the transfer of nutrients to the nerve cells (or the blood-brain barrier). Green algae (Dunaliella Salina) are primitive organisms that evolved over 500 million years ago. They are a rich natural source of the powerful antioxidant beta-carotene and contain over 200 times more carotene beta-carotene. Rich in chlorophyll, polysaccharides, minerals, vitamins and essential fatty acids (like Omega-3 and Omega-6).
Red algae (Lithothamnium), another of the ingredients of AquaSource Algae Sea Energy, are harvested from the bottom of the rich, unpolluted Atlantic waters.
The last ingredient of AquaSource Algae Sea Energy is brown algae. AquaSource uses only the highest quality organic wild seaweed Ascophyllum harvested along the Norwegian coast. Of all brown algae, the Fucaceae family has the widest and most balanced nutritional profile, and arctic varieties are believed to be a more concentrated source of nutrients than those growing in warmer waters. This arctic brown algae contains 200 times more iron than the beet leaves - the richest vegetable-grown vegetable on land. It is also 100 times more rich in iodine than terrestrial vegetables, and about 14 times richer in calcium than cow's milk. It also contains vitamins, amino acids and essential fatty acids.
